| Bloody Resident Evil 4 and Chainsaw review by Michael
Richardson |
Game Description: First Person
Shooter Team player and multi-player.
Publisher: Capcon
Genre: Horror, Action, First Person Shooter, Modern, Shoot-em-Up.

Chain Saw PS2 Controller - Not for the meek.
Rating: 8 out of 10

One of the greatest horror themed games ever created.
They made of movie of the earlier Resident Evil Game it was so good and the movie is one
of my favourites. Not for the meek or young this is truly an adults game. Great cinematics
wrapped around a classic Horror story. I dont wont to give anything away , if Horror is
you kind of game or movie then this game has it all, a little to violent for my tastes but
any game that has its own chain saw PS2 controller gives you a good hint that its not for
the week at heart.

| V8 Supercars (PS2) review by Michael Richardson |
Game
Description: PS2 V8 Super car racing. 70 cars
and 80 circuits, 35 types of racing. V8 Supercar, Open Wheel, GT, Touring car, Oval,
Off-road, Classics. 8 on-line play with realistic damage.
Publisher: Codemasters
Developer: Codemasters
Genre: Car Driving game
Rating: 7 out of 10
It looks good with very nice cars, it sounds good with
grunting engines and it plays very realistically. Crash damage is very realistic with
equivalent bad things and bad handling to the amount of punishment you give it. Lots of
different racing I especially like the sprint cars. Nice graphics with lots of realistic
handling and dynamics, a very nice driving game, a must if driving games are you favorite.
Its pretty hard to beat Gran Turismo 4 but I found it good fun but a little to realistic
and hard to drive especially in some of the tricky circuits. But a good car sim, but my
all time favorite on the PS2 is still "Flat-Out".

| Chicken Littile (PS2) review by Michael Richardson |
Game
Description: Cute little game as a cute little
Chicken has many 3D adventures with his firends based on Walt Disneys Movie of the same
name.
Publisher: Buena Vista Games
Developer: Avalanche Software
Genre: Kids, Third-Person, Adventure, Platform Game.
Rating: 6 out of 10
Made to tie in with the digital 3D Movie by Walt
Disney it looks just like the movie and plays well. It is its own game so you don't have
to have seen the movie but it would make it more enjoyable if you did. The kids will love
this one and it has a charm that is hard to capture in a game and playing the many
adventures with Chicken Little and his very useful Yo-yo is good fun and not very
difficult for even young kids to play. The game is in my opinion even better than the
movie that was also good but the game has its own special charm. It is a platform game but
a little bit different to what you have seen before. The levels are clever and
entertaining. The fish-out-of-water character is always amusing. There is a few special
levels where you do something different like space ship shoot-em-ups, or squirt water , or
dodge-ball. It is an always entertaining game. So if your kids loved the movie they won't
be disappointed by the game. And remember "Look out - The sky is falling!"

| Lego- Starwars (PC) review by Michael Richardson |
Game
Description: Lego Star Wars is a cute game with
lots of pizzles and supprises that will not only please the kids but adults will love it
too.
Publisher: Eidos Interactive
Developer: Traveller's Tales
Genre: Modern, Action, Kids, Sci-fi, Team 1-2 players, Third-Person
Rating: 7.5 out of 10
Lego has been around forever but a game of Star Wars where
all the characters and buildings are made of Lego is a bizarre idea that just works!
It is so cute and fun to play that not only the kids will love it but the whole family.
There are far too few family games on the PC. The mix of Lego and Star Wars just works and
you have lots of characters that wonder around and each has special eg Jedi Jump abilities
and to solve all the puzzles and get through each adventure you have to use each of their
special skills to its fullest. It focuses on the new Star Wars I, II and III episodes and
the game is much more fun than the movies. Although I hope they extend it to the old
movies as well since it works so well. The Jedi's are equipped with Light sabers and of
course the Force and others characters with blasters and you can switch between characters
at any time which keeps it interesting with lots of re playability. It was really
enjoyable great family fun and a game cant give you much more than that.

Rating: 6 out of 10
Much awaited, this Game lets you blast everything. Lots of glass to break
cars explode, walls fall down. The usual type shooter blast em game with the ability to
shoot most objects as well. Heavy pace with plenty of action but not very long. Difficult
to survive long enough to get to the end. Lots of good weapons a little slow to re-load I
thought. But a good blast-em-up with plenty of non-stop action to keep you busy. Wish it
was on PC with easier controls than the PS2 but its not. Nice explosions good graphics
plenty of weapons and things to shoot. Black is short for Black OPs , secret operations
that are not in the books that Governments can deny ever happened. As a Black Ops
special forces type you are trying to bring done some arms dealing terrorists called
Seventh Wave. As far as first person shooters go its pretty good and if you like them you
will like Black. I'm a little tired of them and they have to be pretty special to hold my
attention these days. A good shooter game but still its another shooter game. Not in the
same league as Battlefield 2 but enjoyable.

launch. (I climbed right to the top of this with a sniper rifle and had a field day). Hind
helicopters, night missions you even have to parachute into one mission. A absolutely
amazing game and this pack just adds more goodies on to it. Very hard to stop playing this
game IS that good. Multiplayer is excellent and single player against and with some bots

| We Love Katamari review by

Game
Description: PS2 , Bizarre rolling Game, very
addictive. You have to play to understand.
Publisher: Namco
Developer: Namco
Genre: Bizarre rolling Game, very addictive.
Rating: 6 out of 10
Very Bizarre game from Namco. More of the cult game original Katamari Damacy.
This very original game requires you to roll a ball along that is like a big sticky
chewing gum that sticks to everything and rills into an ever bigger ball. Rolling up the
landscape the items and even the characters relatives. Very original, very addictive, very
strange. The King of the cosmos then judges them and sizes them and turns them into
planets and stars that he erased when drunk one night. Did I mention it was very strange.
It is odd and takes some getting used to. The King is funny and has lots to say and the
whole thing g=has a certain charm. Just one more game to see if I can make a bigger ball
before my time runs out. Just one more go, gee is that the time. Probably wont appeal to
everyone but is very addictive. Did I mention it is very strange. Definitely something a
bit unusual worth a try. Women especially find it interesting something about hunting and
gathering?
This is something like Dig Dug on Acid or nothing like it at all , it is very original and
I am not sure I even like it but I cant stop playing it.

| Australian Idol S.I.N.G Game review

Game Description: Australian Idol Sing Game PS2
Publisher: Red Ant
Developer: Channel Ten - Grundy
Genre: Singing Game
Rating: 7 out of 10
I'm not a super fan of Australian Idol
but this game is great. It has a Logitech USB Microphone and you sing along in a Karaoke
style game with the added bonus of videos of Mark Holden, Marcia. or other celebs giving
you a touchdown if you are worthy or if not good enough, enlightened encouragement. You
sing along the line with Karaoke words similar to other Singing games but to 20 great
Australian song tracks and with the added Idol feeling and the video response of the
judges and lots of other cute singing games this is a great fun game. If you are a fan
then you will not be disappointed its great if you are not a fan it has been done so well
that it is still a lot of fun and you will like it anyway. Especially if you have young
girls in the family and are wondering what gift to give then this is something they will
love and is great fun for all the family. Practice your favourite tunes, audition for the
judges, compete against friends and family. Unlockable TV videos, Multi Player 1 to
8 Players, Mini games ( I like the feed the cat one ), 20 Hot Aussie tracks makes this a
surprisingly great little game in fact its a, TOUCHDOWN!

Game Description: Tekken Dark Resurrection PSP

Genre: Fighting Game

Rating: 8 out of 10
One of the great classic PS2 fighting
games made available on the PSP. The PSP can play two players by Wireless connection
between two PSP's and this game is so good its worth buying two PSP's just to play
it. If you are sick of the kids fighting in the back of the car then let them fight, on
PSP of course, this game will keep them quite and busy for the entire trip. All the great
action of the old Arcade games. You only have to buy one copy of the game and the PSP game
shares to the second PSP. The classic Tekken 5 arcade fighting game with enhanced graphics
and sound. If you are new to these types of games you play the computer or another
player and by pressing different buttons to perform different martial arts moves to knock
out your opponent. Very addictive and great fun and each character has his own signature
special moves. Great sound and great backgrounds with action so intense you really do work
up a sweat.

| Guitar Hero and Guitar PS2 review

Game Description: Fantastic
Guitar Simulation
Publisher: Red Octane
Developer: Red Octane
Genre: Music, Guitar, Simulation, Rock and Roll.
Rating: 11 out of 10

This is the must have accessory and Game of the Year, words fail me you have to try one.
Boot up your Playstation on the giant Plasma screen pick you Guitar type and rock Legend
avatar and Crank up your Home Theatre Amp to 11 thats right past 10 all the way to 11 and
like I have been for the past few days blow the next door folk away with Smoke on the
Water, Frankenstein, White Zombie, Iron Man, Queen, David Bowie, Crossroads, Thunder Kiss,
ZZtop in fact 40 great rock guitar covers that blow your TV system apart. Notes come up on
the TV in front of digital bands playing on the screen and if you press the corresponding
coloured notes you get the blasting sound of the guitar solos if you miss them you don't.
The effect is similar to playing an Air Guitar but with the sound and the vibrato with the
tremolo arm. The effect is exactly as if you are playing a real guitar and you add your
own feel with the timing and the tremolo arm so the illusion that you are really playing
is complete. I played guitar in the first two bands I ever played with, (I am a
keyboard player but everyone wants to be a Guitar Hero), so I know the feel and it is
exactly like playing guitar for real only I could never play anywhere near as good as the
sounds that come out of this. They really have the ultimate package here and although they
give you 40 great thumbing Guitar songs I cant wait for more song CD's to come out. It is
simple to learn no musical knowledge is needed and even young kids can quickly play like a
star. Jumping around the room like a mad man raging out shaking what's left of my long
hair like up and down and bouncing around like ACDC , having the most fun I can remember
having for a long while I have hardly put it down for 4 days now, constantly playing I
actually have calluses on my fingers just like a real guitar. It is truly amazing, jump
into your closest Wizards store and get one before they are all sold out. This is by far
the ultimate toy I have ever reviewed , you must have one. I have to go now, I have to get
the band back together man.....
Whats a good name for a over 40's band. "Fat, Bald and Bitter", I like it
lets rock.

| Swat 4 (PC) review by Michael Richardson |
Game
Description: Modern, First Person Shooter,
Police simulator where being a good guy and arresting your Perps is more important than
just mindless sprite killing.
Publisher: Sierra Studios.
Developer: Irrational Games.
Genre: Modern, Action, First Person Shooter.
Rating: 7 out of 10
Swat 4
is a good example of a great squad based game. The idea is to arrest people and not kill people and sometimes the
threat to you or others you are still criticized for being to gun happy they practically
have to take a shot at you to make it a real threat so you can react with lethal force.
This is a bit much sometimes as running perps with guns are not legal targets and it is a
bit frustrating. Although each time you play, the scenarios are a little different so the
guy behind the bar with the shot gun is not there this time (ie. you cannot just learn the
sequence like for example Doom- shoot two to the left, then one up top then two pop up,
jump back and shoot two more to the left). Swat 4 keeps you guessing each time and is much
more a thinking game than just a shoot blast feast.
Great graphics and sound keeps you interested. If
thinking and planning and working with a team to capture and arrest and not an adrenalin
continual shoot them up, then this game is for you. You learn a lot a bout police tactics
and training but I bet in real life there is a lot more paper work.

Publisher: Ubi Soft.
Developer: Gearbox Software.
Genre: WW2, Action, First Person Shooter and Vehicles.
Rating: 7 out of 10
Developed by Gearbox a
Texas software company Brothers in arms tries to be as realistic as possible in its
missions and game in a pre para drop before D-day by the 101st "screaming
eagles".Based on a true story you
lead your team mates in multiple missions against good AI Germans in a pre para drop
before D-day with very authentic and accurate looking weapons.
A good game but how real do you want it to be a
similar interface to 'Call of Duty' which I think is a better game. I don't really want
the virtual responsibility of a virtual squad with virtual personalities- I just want to
play a game. But nicely done and well worth a look.
Online play in multi player mode, nice looking
graphics and sound. Lots of realism with no holds barred more of a gritty eye witness
account than a fun game.
You do have to wonder about what the poor old Germans what they think about all these
games killing simulated Germans. From Castle Wolftenstein on, a lot of simulated Germans
have bit the dust.

Rating: 6 out of 10
This super hyped game I found disappointing and I cant
understand the rave reviews. Yes the buildings look nice, the best building graphics in
any game very realistic but the characters are the same old same old and the fire fights
are useless and pointless as they are all on you , then all dead , then no one is within
sight. You wonder around in really bad
level designs stuck wondering what the hell do I do now. Call of duty has a constant
reminder of what your mission is and stars on a compass to lead the way. I HATE being just
stuck while you wonder around and around bored to hell. Oh I didn't shoot the padlock now
I can get to the next bad level design and be bored. The much vaunted AI is crap, you can
easily just stand in the open and gun down dozens of bad guys as they jump up and down
then rush you. I don't see any thing good about this game except the pretty buildings ,
good for insomnia as it sent me to sleep. Nothing new here. Doom 3 is much better, Call of
Duty 2 leaves this in the dirt. It's an OK shooter but I didn't think much of it with all
its hype. Lame story line, easy to kill shoot feast, bad level design, stuck all the time,
bored a lot but it did have pretty buildings.

| Call of Duty 2 (PC) review by Michael Richardson |
Game
Description: World War 2, First Person Shooter,
you blow buildings, throw grenades and fight our way through World War 2 as four
separate Soldiers stories.
Publisher: Activision.
Developer: Infinity Ward.
Genre: Modern, Action, WW2, First Person Shooter.
Rating: 9.5 out of 10
We are put straight back into it where Call
of Duty left off. This is one hell of a game so do yourself a favour and get the kids to
get this one from your local Games Wizards and stick it under the tree for you. I couldn't
think of nothing better than spending my holidays in my shorts, a cool drink, headphones
on full blast more so I am not disturbed than to lessen the family Holiday atmosphere by
constant shelling and tank and machine gun noises. This game takes you there, explosions,
fighting in the snow, in the desert and in Tanks. Grenades are a constant headache and you spend as much time running
backwards to get away from them as forwards single handed taking machine gun nest one
after another. The hours melt away playing this master piece of software and the sweat and
exhaustion you feel from so much action must simulate something like what real combat
conditions must be like.
This is a must have game and the entire
collection of Call of Duty and its expansion United Offensive and now Call of Duty 2 are
the games you go back to playing after you have tried the others.
It is all WW2 based so far but I hope they cover
other time periods as well. A similar game as one of Alexander's soldiers would be
fascinating or one of Napoleons Old Guard. You have to wonder how they could ever make
games any better than these. I still remember paying money in bowling alleys to play PONG
two green blips with a blip bouncing between them. What a difference a few years make what
are our children going to be playing. You don't need a good review just buy this one.

| Quake 4 (PC) review by Michael Richardson |
Game
Description: Futuristic, First Person Shooter,
you alone and with a squad go on many missions against the Alien Strogg Warriors on their
own planet.
Publisher: Activision.
Developer: Raven Software.
Genre: Sci-Fi, Action, First Person Shooter and Vehicles.
Rating: 8 out of 10
Rarely has a game got so
much to live up to, but Quake has a reputation and with the hype of Quake 4 means this has
to be something very special. At first
look it looks like Doom 3, with enhanced graphics. Not that there is anything wrong with
that as Doom 3 is a fantastic game but you did expect more.
It is a good solo game, but you are sometimes
working in a team and you are sent backwards and forwards on different missions. It's good
and the outside battle graphics are impressive, but you do expect more from the Quake team
and on this they don't really deliver.
The multiplayer is disappointing and is the same
as Quake 3. Though nothing has graphics this good and very nice sound and music. The solo
game is addictive and the guns are beefy and have a good feel. Not much jump out at you or
surprises and suspense as Doom 3 and a different team based game is probably not as good
as Doom 3 but much prettier. Still more Doom 3 with better graphics is still a good game
and well worth a bash. It is faster paced than Doom 3, but you do also have to think
through several puzzles and I had to come back several times with a clearer head to work
out how to move on. I hate being stuck. You can get into the vehicles and Tanks and they
are a nice change of pace. Just when you think you have done everything and its slowing
down and you have seen all this before you are captured, your legs are cut off and you are
turned into a Strogg and it gets real interesting again. Overall a very good fun
game.
Lots of splatter and baddie killing not
recommended for the squeamish. If you did expect something really super from these guys,
this is a little disappointing, it is good and difficult to top and I don't know how it
could be better but I did just expect something more, something really special and WOW
from these guys. With all that said still a great game.

Game
Description: Musical Quiz Game that
comes with 4 x Buzzers so you can challenge each other to in a TV style game show.
Publisher: Sony
Developer: Sony
Genre: Musical Quiz Game.
Rating: 9 out of 10
Sony Entertainment released
Buzz the Music Quiz for Playstation 2 and it is a winner. Buzz's assistant comes out to help you and get you started. It is for
one to four players and each player gets a Buzzer controller (4 come in the pack), and
then Buzz starts to ask you musical questions in which you have to Buzz in first and then
you get four multiple choice answers to get a right answer.
It really puts you in the studio lights and in
the mood as you battle Solo or with up to four other contestants. The format of the
questions change regularly so you don't get bored and then there is the Bomb! Answer the
question fast or it will Bomb you score. You really feel "In the HOT seat" as
the competition hots up with the ever suave, slick and sophisticated "Buzz"
urges you on to better scores. At the start you can select "new music",
"oldies" or "All" which is the fairest if a general kids versus the
parents battle is under way.
Sony need to be applauded on such a great little
Game and we hope to see more Quiz's like Trivia, or (History my favourite)
, or God no, not Sport. Definitely the PS2 game for Christmas get them from your local

enemies with wiggling cows, grab a tower and play golf with the enemy soldiers. Maybe a

Game
Description: Massive first person
shooter adventure with many open ended adventures with different endings.
Publisher: Atari
Developer: Atari
Genre: Shoot em up, first person, Action, Adventure.
Rating: 7 out of 10
In Boiling Point, you play Saul Meyers, an ex military whose daughter has been kidnapped
and you have to find her in some third world South American type country. It loads a
massive map 240 miles square and no reloads are needed. Lots of speech and interaction
with everyone as you wonder around town. You see CIA agents, go to bars and watch exotic
dancers and have a few drinks with the colourful locals. I had a few too many drinks and
the screen went blurry and spun around and my character could hardly walk (this is in the
game, not me personally) and you continue on getting job offers from the CIA, the local
Military, the rebels and the Mafia (again this is in the game, not me personally) ,
in fact 14 different factions want to employ you. Who you choose depends on who shoots at
you.
So what you say and what you do creates the path of his more than a
"shoot-em-up" adventure. You can drive cars, trucks, helicopters tanks, planes,
boats and an arsenal of weapons join different factions or change sides all in one big
install no loading levels. Driving cars was a bit painful and there is lots of driving to
get around this huge game. Interesting story and interaction but too much driving with 240
sq miles of simulated game and a not so hot driving interface which seem unnecessarily
hard to get used to. I had fun with it but it was a bit slow in places but a good and new
fresh idea for a game and a type of free-role playing game. Should appeal to many
especially chaotic players who like more freedom to do whatever their character feels like
today and not be forced down a specific linear path.

Earth is a prison planet
in the not too distant future and you play a doctor in this sci-fi RPG thriller type
adventure. With Halo type graphics it uses the Unreal engine to create a Movie type
experience broken with shoot-em-up encounters. Nice graphics and very interesting
game play as you have an Arsenal of weapons that you can modify as you gain certain items.
Buildings crumble and unexpected things do happen that keep you on your feet as you walk
around in search for the girl. Good multiplayer modes and death match and capture the flag
scenarios. Very nice sound track. I liked the personal feel and mix of sound and graphics
and Blade runner type sci-fi effects. You can use the vehicles and you need to think
and solve puzzles definitely something you could get immersed in and carried away with the
story. A thinking mans "shoot-em up" from the creators of Unreal Tournament
using Epics Unreal engine. As
you Doctor Mason are transporting a girl with a terrible virus in a status chamber when
the worst happens. I have to say Half-Life 2 seems better at putting this storyline role
playing inside a movie type of game together. But it was interesting and well worth a look
if your a fan of this type or of Sci-Fi. Starts a little slow but gets better and better.

| Battlefield 2 (PC) review
by Michael Richardson |
This Game is bad for your health. My red eyes from continual
play and 5.30 am mornings when I have to be in a meeting at 9am at work and still you
think just one more game, even though I know its way too late and I am going to pay dearly
for this lack of sleep, I must have just one more game. I first thought another
"shoot-em-up" ho hum, my usual short attention span can give it a go but I am
pretty bored with the old "shoot and blast-em" , but if I could be stuck on a
drip to play non stop for the next year this would be the game I'd be playing. It has
amazing hi res graphics of tanks , planes, facilities to over-run, Jets etc. but also has
the best game play I have ever experienced.
You can be several types of modern infantry from a Special Forces to a Medic to a
Sniper to a Heavy gunner Support type to name a few, all with their own special skills and
weapons. You can drive Dune Buggies, Tanks, Attack Helicopters, Hum vees, Jets and more.
The continual bullets and rockets just missing your head makes an Action packed thrill a
minute adrenaline ride that is so addictive you have just got to play again. It never has
the same game play twice and it comes closest to the thrill and fear of real combat than
any other game I have ever played.
Voice over IP in Multi player so you can actually talk to your team-mates. As
a Sniper I climbed this very, very tall silo to start picking off the enemy when along
comes a helicopter and blasts me right off it. You all jump in a Dune Buggy, your buddy
drives while you man the guns, make your own squads, smooth fast on-line play. The On-line
real people play hard but the Solo play against the automatic Bots is also good and the
Bots play well. You must have this game, the sweat and excitement is more pounding than
being in a real paint ball game. I just cant stop playing and nothing beats driving a fast
Tank around or an Attack Helicopter blasting everything that moves. Rarely is a Game ever
this good.

| Freedom Force V's the Third Reich (PC) review by Michael |
Freedom Force V's the 3rd Reich . When
the evil genius, Nuclear Winter, returns with a plot to destroy Freedom Force and the Free
World its up to gamming's greatest Hero's who must team up with a flurry of fresh faces as
the sinister Soviet Villain's plans include a time dimension rip into the heart of the
Third Reich itself. Can you as Freedom Force stop the naughty Nazis and the Evil villains.
A good Comic book type game reminiscent of the old X-men comics and Thor and Iron man
cartoons of my youth who used very similar blocky movement of still cut out characters
moving across the screen and lame voiceover man predicting doom to everyone. The
actual play graphics are a top down, side on type and I still find the controls a little
hard to use but got more used to them. As you move your group of Super Hero's around
Patriot City. Every thing is pick up-able or destroyable. So you can throw a car into the
building and it crumbles down. I caused lots of collateral damage in my capture of the bad
guys, in fact entire blocks of buildings got smashed down. You can pick up a street light
and wield it as a bat and it is a lot of fun. Anyone who likes comics or used to watch the
old Marvel cartoons will have a great time playing this very good adaptation of a comic
story feel to the computer.

| Pool (XBOX) review by Craig
Griffiths |
I played Xbox pool for several hours
only to discover I am just as bad at virtual pool as I am at real pool. This game let you
do everything you can really do in a game of pool. You can adjust cue position, angle and
where you hit the ball. It actually made me a better player as I was doing things I would
have never normally thought of trying while playing real pool. You can view the shot from
all angles, this would mean a lot if I knew what I was doing. You can even choose where
you play pool, pub or tavern etc, location is very important to a professional like
myself, and even the style of pool, eight ball etc. This is one of the best simulations of
a game that I have seen in a while. At first glance pool seems too simple a game to be put
on Xbox. After playing the game I can honestly say I had great fun. My 13year old enjoyed
it even more beating in nearly every version of the game we played.

| Tekken 5 by Namco (PS2) review
by Michael Richardson |
I hadn't
played a kung fu fighting game for years not since in the old arcades of George St.
Sydney, but you will want this one for your collection. It is definitely the best I have
seen in this "3D Karate Fighter" type game style and definitely one you should
have as you just cant stop playing. Namco invented this type of game 10 years ago and now
with Tekken 5 have reached a height that will be very hard to surpass. You can fight the
machine in an arcade type fight or for a more interesting style- story mode or even two
player. With realistic fighting moves you defeat your opponents, which all have a few
special moves only for that character (I like the ex- wrestler even though for some reason
he had a tiger's head). The fights truly make you sweat as you battle it out and they
become harder and harder and you can really feel the blows as you forget to duck and pay
the price. The background scenes are beautifully done- from large dragon statues, to a
dungeon type room with gold coins scattered all over the floor, to giant moving platforms
that zoom down corridors on giant wheels as you battle it out on the moving platform to
the Antarctic ice flow with penguins watching (this one seemed like a strange place to
fight, but it did look good). The game play is fantastic, looks fantastic, sounds
fantastic, and there is no way you can stop at just one fight. It is hard to believe all
this is coming out of a PS2 you would think you where in an arcade on a machine with some
super computer costing tens of thousands of dollars. Playing other players is a whole new
adventure and the entire night with friends over can be spent with everyone wanting to
beat each other stupid until you have to send them home. This is definitely the best game
of its type and a must have in your PS2 collection.

| WWII - Normandy by Valuesoft (PC) review by Michael Richardson |
Third person shooter, lasting
good old Germans. What would the world do for bad guys if it hadn't been for those naughty
Nazis. You are a member of the 101st Airborne Division the Screaming Eagles, parachuted
behind enemy lines in the predawn hours of June the 6th, 1944 D-Day and are given various
related missions to preparing for the D-day invasion. Nice little graphics it uses the
Lith Tech 3D engine, which was made you will remember from old favourite games like Blood
and Blood 2 and has a good soundtrack with distant battle sounds to give lots of
atmosphere and it all works fine on low powered PC systems. The Germans baddies look good
especially the officers and the AI is not bad as they will take cover or fall prone and
duck in and out trying to shoot you. The weapons are pretty realistic and you die easily,
so you need to use cover and keep your head down. German tanks burst through walls and
fire at you so have that bazooka handy. I finished it in a few hours in easy mode so I
recommend you play in normal mode for a more challenging game. Again, great fun for
another $4 special from Games Wizards so I was very impressed. Best value for $4 I have
found. Snipers, Tiger Tanks, Bunkers, Naval Guns and lots of those naughty Nazis to try to
stop you. Game 6 out of 10

| Desert Thunder by Groove Eidos (PC) review by Michael Richardson |
A tank type
Arcade style "shoot-em-up" game. As an experimental M1A6 Tank, your Elite 7th
Cavalry Tank group get ambushed and you are all that is left to reach our objective, the
bad guys capital city guarded by a new top Secret Russian Super Tank. I liked it, it was a
good change from shooting poor old Germans or zombies monsters. It has a separate drive
direction and turret movement so you can be moving one way and blast sideways. But watch
out for mines everywhere and cliffs. Nothing can bring the satisfaction of the mass
destruction a tank can cause. Fighting other tanks, running over their pesky Infantry,
mines everywhere , blasting towers, buildings, ammo dumps, fuel dumps, missile trucks and
planes on runways. Night missions and the final cautious drive through the interior of a
big city where every corner could be an ambush is completely different to zooming around
through the open desert. Lots of fun, lots of different aspects of being a tank commander.
I drove off a cliff and into a deep lake in the heat of battle. Overall good fun and
another super bargain at $4 from Games Wizards. Very well worth the money. Good graphics
and action uses the older Ureal Engine but for $4, a great value- lots of different
missions, trail of mass destruction left wherever I went, a great battle .

| Imperial Glory by Eidos (PC) review by Michael Richardson |
One of
those games you just don't stop playing. At 4.30am I thought just an 1/2 hour more it's
not really that late, but it was. You control a country in Napoleonic Times and
build up its economic base, Battle and negotiate and deal as your armies sweep across
Europe. Based on the Total War Games (like Rome Total War), if you have played any of
these then all the controls will feel usual. It has great sea battles, fantastic looking
battle maps and quick and easy to learn commands makes you want to be Emperor and command
all of Europe. You build your Armies with Infantry , Cannon, Cavalry set up in a battle
order and then set them loose and zoom in close to watch the desperate combat as your
units struggle for supremacy. A very addictive game and I have to say, fantastic
graphics, music, strategy, campaigns, good computer negotiations and interaction and
playability. This game has it all. Definitely my vote for Strategy Game of the year. Go to
you local Games Wizards and grab this one.

Western Desperado- Wanted Dead or Alive(PC)
review by Michael Richardson |
Clint
Eastwood type Western "Shoot-em-up." You start on a moving train, shoot
lots of guns, throw dynamite, face a Gattling Gun, go to the Saw Mill and save the girl
etc. etc. I liked it! Lots of fun, not the super slick graphics or super excitement of the
latest games like Doom 3, but it's as good as any western feels and I cranked it up to
best graphics mode and re-did the controls and then played it for hours. There's nothing
like blasting the Bad guys. " I'm a G'ona, Ya got me this time Stranger ", what
more can I say except I picked it up at Games Wizards Castle Hill for $4. That's right $4!
Well
worth the money. As the latest hi-tech Games go the
Game is only a 5 out of 10 compared to Doom 3 say but as for Value for money 9 out of
10 and I got to admit I like the old cowboy
"shoot-em-ups". A good fun little easy to play , no mazes or to much thinking
and easy Game with lots of feel to while away a few hours. Wait till you zoom around in a
mine car in the abandoned Mine that was a surprise ride.

| Shadow of Rome by Capcom (PS2) review
by Michael Richardson |
Lots of "slash-em-up"
violence in the Big Arena here. The animated violence and blood is not for the young ones
and is very graphic. I was surprised at how graphic. I eventually got used to fighting
with my Gladiator and won a few battles and must say it is a fun Battle, the roar, glory
and admiration of the crowd, they have captured this well if not a little too graphic in
the fighting. The A.I. of some of the enemy was a bit weak. If they had of just
made this an Arena Battle it would have been great but then for some unknown reason , you
cut down and slaughter (in a very graphic way), unarmed criminals or christians with their
hands tied. Maybe historically accurate, but you have to ask "what were you thinking
"? Not much of a game section unless you plan to become a mass murderer. Then
it tries to mix in a weak role playing adventure. I must admit, I quite liked the arena
combat but was disappointed by the unarmed massacre and poor adventure bits. Very nice
graphics some of the best I've seen on a PS2 if not a little bit too much gore - very
blood thirsty and the pointless adventure sections, as you try to find Caesar's killer,
lets this Game down. Game 8 out of 10 for the combat sections, 6 out of 10 for an overall Game.
