Time Savers
Needing to transfer a whole chunk of data from one document to another? Here are some useful shortcuts to help save time from having to click onto the dropdown menu everytime you need to copy and paste something.

 

CTRL + C is to copy (you need to have highlighted your data before it can copy)
CTRL + X is to cut to remove the data from the original document
CTRL + V is to paste what you just copied or just cut out
CTRL + A is to highlight/ select the whole document

Force Quit
When a program you have open has chosen to stand still (freeze) Simply press the  CTRL + ALT + DELETE buttons together and it will take you to the task manager where you can choose to force the closure of that program.

 

NOTE: If you press it twice in succession your computer will restart.

The Minimiser
Similar to quick switch to desktop tip. Pressing the Windows key and M minimises all your windows and shows your desktop. The difference between that tip and this one, pressing Windows+D shows you the desktop but if you press it again you can jump back onto the screen you had maximised.

Switching Upper and Lower Case
When typing inside Microsoft Word ever wished you left the caps lock on so that word will be in capitals? Ever left the caps lock on by accident? There is an easy way to correct the error! Simply highlight the word you want to change the case to and hit CTRL, SHIFT and A together and you can change the highlight into the opposite of what it is- no more retyping characters!

 

NOTE: CTRL+ SHIFT + A has only been tested on Microsoft Word. The function does not work in notepad.

Turning Back Time
Spent a lot of time typing up that document only to accidentally erase the last chunk of text? Well now you can turn back time by simple clicking CTRL and Z together and it will undo the erasure.

 

NOTE: CTRL+ Z will not work if you have saved your document after the erasure.

Browsing more than one page
If you are on a webpage and want to open a link listed without it opening on that same page for Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox simply press SHIFT as you click on the link. For Mozilla Firefox there is one extra feature and that is if you want the new window to open as a tab within that one page hold the CTRL button down as click the link.

When you have a stack of open Windows on your desktop and you want to get to a nice clear desktop but dont want to have to shrink down or close all those open windows Hold down the left Windows key and press D this closes all the open windows and jumps you straight to your clear desktop With [Alt] Tab you can select to open each again.

Quick Switch to your Active Programmes
To switch quickly between programmes you have running at the same time on your computer simply hold down the Alt Button while simultaneously pressing the Tab button , hold it down and you will see a list of the programmes you have running. Keep pressing tab until you are over the programme you want, then release the keys and you jump straight to it. Saves a ton of time especially if you work with many open programmes at once.

 

Changing Font Sizes in MSN
  To all the people who rang in and said they had problems in MSN messenger with Large or to Small fonts, it is very easy to change them. In the messenger box itself there is a Symbol that looks like A)(B or A font. Click on these and it will allow you to choose the Font style and also the size. We suggest Arial in 14pt. But set what ever you like and whatever colour you like, to make it easier for you to read. Also see http://www.messengertools.net for interesting tools for Messenger.

Read small text on a Website in Explorer

  To all the people who rang in and said they had problems reading small text on a website browsing in MS Explorer , click in the left top corner of MS Explorer Browser "View", then "Text size" and you have the choice of 5 different sizes to view the text in. Of course this does not work in all Websites as the designer can use software to turn of this feature or if the font is set and the website is made using CSS Cascading Style Sheets apparently can also stop you from changing the Font size but works most of the time.

 

Read small text on a Website in Firefox

  To all the people who rang in and said they had problems reading small text on a website browsing in Firefox , Hold down the left Control Key [Ctrl] and press the plus [+] or minus [-]signs to the left top of your key board this will enlarge or shrink the text in the website. Of course this does not work in all Websites as the designer can use software to turn of this feature or if the font is set and the website is made using CSS Cascading Style Sheets apparently can also stops you from changing the Font size.

 

The Mouse Wheel Font size Trick

  To all the people who rang in and said they had problems reading small text  on websites browsing in a browser in general, if you Hold down the left Control Key [Ctrl] and roll the Mouse Wheel up and down this will enlarge or shrink the text in the website. Of course this does not work in all Websites as the designer can use software to turn of this feature or the mouse driver for your mouse is set to do some other feature or if the font is set and the website is made using CSS Cascading Style Sheets apparently can also stops you from changing the Font size.

  To all the people who rang in and said they had problems reading small text in their email in MS outlook or Outlook Express if you Hold down the left Control Key [Ctrl] and roll the Mouse Wheel up and down this will enlarge or shrink the text in the email. Of course this does not work in all cases as the mouse driver for your mouse may be set to do some other feature and this apparently can stop you from changing the Font size.

  To all the people who rang in and said they had problems reading small text in their email in Eudora software if you Hold down the left Control Key [Ctrl] and roll the Mouse Wheel up and down this will enlarge or shrink the text in the email.
